Description

Hawaiian Roll Breakfast Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast treat featuring soft Hawaiian rolls layered with creamy cream cheese, savory scrambled eggs, flavorful breakfast sausage, and melted cheddar cheese, topped with a seasoned buttery glaze and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 1 12-count package Hawaiian Rolls
  • 6 tablespoons cream cheese (plain or onion & chive)
  • 1/2 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 1/3 cup diced red bell peppers (optional)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Butter Topping

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the assembled sliders.
  2. Slice Rolls: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice horizontally through all 12 Hawaiian rolls together, creating one large top bun layer and one large bottom bun layer without separating individual rolls.
  3. Prepare Pan: Grease an 8x11 inch baking pan. Place the bottom bun layer in the pan. If you do not have an 8x11 pan, you may use a greased 9x13 inch pan and place the buns centered. Set the top buns aside.
  4. Spread Cream Cheese: Evenly spread the cream cheese over the bottom layer of buns in the pan.
  5. Cook Sausage and Peppers: In a saucepan, brown the ground breakfast sausage with the diced red bell peppers (if using). Drain excess fat and set the mixture aside.
  6. Make Scrambled Eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and black pepper until smooth. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Pour in the egg mixture and stir occasionally until the eggs are softly scrambled and cooked through.
  7. Assemble Layers: Sprinkle the cooked sausage and pepper mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer on the buns. Then evenly layer the scrambled eggs on top of the sausage mixture.
  8. Add Cheese and Top Buns: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the eggs. Place the top bun layer over the cheese to complete the sandwich assembly.
  9. Prepare Butter Glaze: Melt the butter in a small bowl using the microwave. Stir in the onion powder, black pepper, and dried parsley flakes to create a seasoned butter glaze.
  10. Brush Butter Over Rolls: Generously brush the seasoned butter glaze over the tops of the buns, allowing it to soak in a bit.
  11. Bake Sliders: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
  12. Slice and Serve: Remove from the oven, slice the sliders between buns, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Feel free to use onion & chive flavored cream cheese for an extra burst of flavor.
  • The diced red bell peppers are optional but add a nice sweetness and color.
  • You can substitute breakfast sausage with turkey sausage for a leaner option.
  • If you like your sliders spicier, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sausage mix.
  • For easier slicing, chill the sliders briefly after baking before cutting.
  • These sliders can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for a quick breakfast or brunch.
