Ingredients
Scale
Sliders
- 1 12-count package Hawaiian Rolls
- 6 tablespoons cream cheese (plain or onion & chive)
- 1/2 pound ground breakfast sausage
- 1/3 cup diced red bell peppers (optional)
- 6 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Butter Topping
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the assembled sliders.
- Slice Rolls: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice horizontally through all 12 Hawaiian rolls together, creating one large top bun layer and one large bottom bun layer without separating individual rolls.
- Prepare Pan: Grease an 8x11 inch baking pan. Place the bottom bun layer in the pan. If you do not have an 8x11 pan, you may use a greased 9x13 inch pan and place the buns centered. Set the top buns aside.
- Spread Cream Cheese: Evenly spread the cream cheese over the bottom layer of buns in the pan.
- Cook Sausage and Peppers: In a saucepan, brown the ground breakfast sausage with the diced red bell peppers (if using). Drain excess fat and set the mixture aside.
- Make Scrambled Eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and black pepper until smooth. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Pour in the egg mixture and stir occasionally until the eggs are softly scrambled and cooked through.
- Assemble Layers: Sprinkle the cooked sausage and pepper mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer on the buns. Then evenly layer the scrambled eggs on top of the sausage mixture.
- Add Cheese and Top Buns: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the eggs. Place the top bun layer over the cheese to complete the sandwich assembly.
- Prepare Butter Glaze: Melt the butter in a small bowl using the microwave. Stir in the onion powder, black pepper, and dried parsley flakes to create a seasoned butter glaze.
- Brush Butter Over Rolls: Generously brush the seasoned butter glaze over the tops of the buns, allowing it to soak in a bit.
- Bake Sliders: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
- Slice and Serve: Remove from the oven, slice the sliders between buns, and serve warm.
Notes
- Feel free to use onion & chive flavored cream cheese for an extra burst of flavor.
- The diced red bell peppers are optional but add a nice sweetness and color.
- You can substitute breakfast sausage with turkey sausage for a leaner option.
- If you like your sliders spicier, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sausage mix.
- For easier slicing, chill the sliders briefly after baking before cutting.
- These sliders can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for a quick breakfast or brunch.
