Description

This festive Grinch Fudge recipe features creamy layers of white and green peppermint-flavored fudge swirled together and topped with heart sprinkles. Perfect for holiday parties, cookie trays, or a sweet Christmas treat, this easy-to-make fudge combines white chocolate, marshmallow cream, and peppermint for a deliciously smooth and colorful dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Fudge Base

  • 1-1/2 teaspoons butter, softened, divided
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened, divided
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 12 squares (12 ounces) white baking chocolate, chopped
  • 1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 5 drops green food coloring
  • 1/4 cup heart sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8-inch square baking pan with foil, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal. Grease the foil thoroughly with 1-1/2 teaspoons of softened butter. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Sugar Mixture: In a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar, sour cream, and the remaining 1/4 cup butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar dissolves completely. Bring to a rapid boil and continue cooking for about five minutes or until the mixture reaches 234°F, the soft-ball stage, as tested with a candy thermometer or by dropping a spoonful into cold water to form a soft, pliable ball.
  3. Add Chocolate and Marshmallow: Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the chopped white baking chocolate, marshmallow cream, and peppermint extract until everything is melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Create Layers: Pour half of the fudge mixture into the prepared pan. Add five drops of green food coloring to the remaining fudge in the saucepan and mix well. Spoon the green mixture over the white layer in the pan.
  5. Swirl the Fudge: Using a knife, gently swirl the white and green fudge layers together to create a marbled effect. Be careful not to overmix to maintain the distinct colors.
  6. Add Sprinkles and Chill: Sprinkle the top with heart sprinkles. Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill until the fudge is firm, about 1 to 2 hours.
  7. Cut and Serve: Once set, use the foil edges to lift the fudge out of the pan. Peel away the foil and cut the fudge into 1-inch squares. Enjoy immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • This fudge is ideal for festive occasions like Christmas and holiday parties due to its bright colors and peppermint flavor.
  • Use a candy thermometer to ensure accurate cooking to the soft-ball stage for the perfect texture.
  • You can substitute mint extract for peppermint extract for a different minty twist.
  • Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • To get clean fudge cuts, dip the knife in hot water and wipe it dry between cuts.
