Description

These Cheesy Stuffed Breadsticks are golden brown, buttery, and packed with melted Cabot Monterey Jack cheese, making them the perfect comfort food appetizer or snack. Served hot with a side of marinara sauce for dipping, they offer a delicious blend of gooey cheese and crispy dough that will satisfy any cheese lover.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese

  • 16 oz. Cabot Monterey Jack cheese

Dough

  • 2 1-pound balls of pizza dough

Butter Topping

  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Serving

  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Set these aside while you prepare the breadsticks.
  2. Prepare Cheese: Cut one entire block of Monterey Jack cheese lengthwise into 8 long pieces. Then cut half of the second block lengthwise into 4 long pieces, creating a total of 12 strips. Grate the remaining half block of cheese and set both the strips and shredded cheese aside.
  3. Roll Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll each pizza dough ball into a 10” x 18” rectangle for a thin, even layer of dough.
  4. Assemble Breadsticks: Place one dough rectangle on a large cutting board and line the 12 cheese strips evenly across its length. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top of the strips. Cover with the second dough rectangle and press the two layers tightly together around the cheese to seal.
  5. Cut Breadsticks: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice between each piece of cheese to form 12 stuffed breadsticks. Pinch the dough edges tightly around each cheese stick to ensure they are sealed well.
  6. Bake: Arrange the stuffed breadsticks on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 18 minutes or until they are light golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Prepare Garlic Butter: While baking, mix melted butter, chopped parsley, kosher salt, garlic powder, and dried oregano in a small bowl until well combined.
  8. Brush and Serve: Remove the breadsticks from the oven and immediately brush the tops generously with the garlic butter mixture. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure the dough is rolled out evenly to avoid uneven baking.
  • Pinch the dough edges tightly to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
  • Use a pizza cutter for clean and easy slicing of breadsticks.
  • These breadsticks are best enjoyed fresh and hot but can be reheated in the oven to restore crispiness.
  • For a different flavor, try adding Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes to the garlic butter.
